Are adults merely grown-up versions of ourselves when we were just children, with the same motivations, needs and wants, now simply framed for an adult world that probably bemuses us as much as when we were actually running around playgrounds, laughing with our friends like little lunatics?

If you want to be creative, stay in part a child, with the creativity and invention that characterizes children before they are deformed by adult society.” – Jean Piaget, Swiss psychologist and pioneer in the fields of developmental psychology and epistemology (August 9th., 1896 – September 16th., 1980)

No doubt, Jean Piaget, the famous Swiss psychologist quoted above, and renowned for his work on child development, particularly his theory of “genetic epistemology,” would have plenty to say about the sentence above. In fact, come the end of the last century, he was second only to the equally-famous B.F. Skinner when it came to being cited for his brilliance in the field of psychology.

There is little doubt that Piaget’s theories have had a huge impact on the world of modern psychology and its associated fields, and his body of work continues to influence professional psychologists today.

At Modern, we understand first hand that there is an ever-growing need for qualified addiction and mental health professionals to help those struggling with substance use disorders (SUDs) and co-occurring disorders.

Therefore, we have decided to give back to the community in the way of an educational scholarship program. This financial aid is for students who are enrolled in a college program in the field of Behavioral Health. Our aim is to help undergraduate and graduate students in their welcome pursuit of a career in the areas of behavioral health and addiction-related studies
